Is Breast Augmentation Surgery the Right Choice for You?

Is Breast Augmentation Surgery the Right Choice for You?

We asked three South African women if they’d ever thought about getting plastic surgery. Here’s what they had to say…

Rose, 29, from Johannesburg, is a freelance designer. She said, “Absolutely not. The thought of surgery seems incredibly painful, but more importantly, I’m happy with my cup size. If other women feel better after having it done, good for them. We need to talk more about why so many women feel they need larger breasts to feel beautiful. If I ever did think about it, I’d trust a South African surgeon because they’re some of the best in the world.”

Mia, 25, a copywriter in Cape Town, shared her perspective: “I’m okay with my breast size, but I’d consider surgery to go bigger, especially if someone else paid for it! I’ve heard recovery can take weeks and be pretty painful. But if a woman wants to change something she’s unhappy with, she should go for it. As for where I’d have it done, I tend to think surgeons abroad might be more experienced, maybe due to better training or tech? But we also have excellent plastic surgeons here in South Africa. I might also consider other surgeries like lipo, a nose job, or even a facelift.”

Debra, 24, works as a doctor’s receptionist in Cape Town. She said, “I’m happy with my breast size now, but I might consider augmentation later, maybe after having kids. A tummy tuck is also a possibility. Pain doesn’t worry me much; surgery is surgery, and modern tech has made it easier. I support any woman who wants a procedure to feel beautiful. I’d definitely get it done locally since our surgeons are just as well-trained and our tech is up-to-date. I don’t know anyone who’s had a boob job, so I might be the first in my friend group.”
